Track Work Underway at The Peninsula Experience

25 February 2011

Work commenced last week on a 4km walking track network at The Peninsula Experience, near Dover in the Huon Valley, Southern Tasmania. When complete, the track network will help guests to explore this 100ha peninsula at the entrance to Port Esperance and provide spectacular view of the D’Entrecasteaux Channel, Southern Ocean and Adamsons Peak.

The Peninsula Experience is a premium accommodation experience in Tasmania’s Far South and can accommodate from one to 6 adults. With huge open plan living space, an outdoor spa on the deck overlooking Bruny Island and 3 king bedrooms, this is the ideal place to experience nature in quiet luxury.

The track project is being run by Huon Valley Escapes, with help from locals and international backpackers. Robin Delannoy from France is using the Wwoof (Willing Workers on Organic Farms) network to learn new skills while travelling Australia. "The highlight of my time at The Peninsula Experience is new knowledge and unique awesome experience, "says Robin. "Some days we had to be very careful because the land was very slidy and always check if there is not a snake under our feet, but it was ok we saw only one tiger snake and he fled away when he saw us.”

The tracks visit a range of habitats from dry sclerophyll forest, through buttongrass heathland and tea tree wetland to rocky shore platforms. The track network will be opened in stages between now and next tourist season.
